It’s a big deal when one student from a high school signs a letter of intent to play Division I athletics.
Imagine than when three students sign a letter of intent.
That’s what happened at Jordan High School on Wednesday morning when three students signed their National Letter of Intent to play Division I athletics next year.
Brittany Chambers, Leah Dietel and T. J. Oakes made their decisions official in the school Commons after the school held a pep fest for the state champion volleyball team and the school musical.
Chaska High School will have four student-athletes sign national letters of intent to play collegiate sports in a ceremony at the school on Wednesday morning.
The students are:
John Pavelko, Golf, DePaul (CHS Coach Jeff Rydland)
Maggie Finkel, Volleyball, Winona State University (CHS Coach Sue Murphy)
Makenzie Niesche, Volleyball, Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall (CHS Coach Sue Murphy)
Griffin Kilber, Baseball, Concordia-St. Paul (CHS Coach Eric Welter)

Neil Wagner, a 2002 graduate of Eden Prairie High School, has been promoted to the class AA Akron Aeros in the Cleveland Indians minor league system. After posting a 4.50 ERA with 81 strikeouts in 62 innings for the high-A Kinston Indians, Wagner was promoted to Akron where he finished the regular season and is participating in the Eastern League playoffs. He seems to have saved the best for the end of the season. His last regular season appearance was for 2-2/3 innings during which he did not give a run and he struck out six batters.

Lefthanded pitcher Brad Hand was on an impressive roll with the Florida Marlins’ Gulf Coast League baseball club.
But it seems that the roll, with that team at least, has come to an end.
The Marlins moved Hand up the minor-league ladder to the organization’s Class A team in Jamestown, N.Y.
A second-round pick by the Marlins out of Chaska High School, Hand started the Jammers’ game Tuesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ affiliate.
Hand took the loss, giving up three hits and three earned runs over 4-1/3 innings, while walking four and striking out four.
