With every seat in the Bloomington Ice Gardens taken, as well as every parking space in the parking lot, the now 10-0 Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars defeated the Eden Prairie High School boys hockey team on Saturday by a score of 2-1.

As a result, Jefferson is the team everyone, including Eden Prairie, is chasing in the race for a Lake Conference championship.

“Our margin of error just got really small,” said Eden Prairie Head Coach Lee Smith. “We have to keep winning until we get them (Jefferson) at our place later in the season.”

Minnetonka had never lost in its previous seven Schwan Cup games going into Tuesday's semifinal with No. 2 Edina.

The seventh win was Monday night over No. 1-rated and defending Class 2A champion Hill-Murray.

But the Hornets cut the Skippers' string short with a 4-2 win at the Xcel Energy Center.

Andrew Prochno scored both Tonka goals: the first with 1 minute left in the second period and the second sandwiched between Edina scores in the third period.

The Skippers will play White Bear Lake in the third-place game at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1.
