Two weeks ago, the Eden Prairie High School girls swim and dive team put an exclamation point to the Eden Prairie High School falls sports season by placing third at the state meet.
From a team standpoint, the fall sports season was a resounding success. Including the state champion Eden Prairie High School girls cross-country team, four Eden Prairie teams advanced to state tournaments. Two teams, boys cross-country and girls soccer, finished second. The swim team finished third and the football team was one play away from advancing to the state semifinals.

Chaska faced No. 1 seed Eden Prairie in the Section 2AA semifinal on Saturday. The Hawks were underdogs, but did not show it.
EP prevailed 2-1 in overtime to advance to the finals to face Bloomington Jefferson on Tuesday. The Eagles fell 3-2 to the Jaguars after a 4-3 overtime shootout.
Chaska was well prepared as coach Hisham Sorour, the Lake Conference ‘Coach of the Year,' had his lads practicing twice on the football field turf.
The boys were nervous but not scared. They held a sense of mature confidence as they took on No.
T.S. Eliot was wrong he said April was the cruelest month. It’s October and it’s not even close.
Exhibit A is what happened to the Eden Prairie High School boys soccer team on a fine October night.
Leading 2-0 midway through the second half of Tuesday’s Section 2AA championship game against Bloomington Jefferson, the Eagles failed to score a goal that surely would’ve ended the game. And oh did they have their chances.
Instead, Jefferson scored, cut Eden Prairie’s lead in half, and doubt set in.
Never mind that their goal was the result of hard work.
There’s a reward for avenging your only loss of the season. For the Eden Prairie High School boys soccer team that reward comes in the form of a Section 2AA title.
Tonight, the No. 1 seeded Eagles host the No. 2 seeded Bloomington Jefferson Jaguars in the Section 2AA championship game. A couple weeks ago, Jefferson defeated Eden Prairie by a score of 1-0, handing Eden Prairie its only loss of the season.
