2009 FITGER’S 5K REGISTRATION MOVES ONLINE
(Duluth, Minn.) The 20th anniversary of one the Northland's premier road races is bringing improvements to the event’s registration process.

Registration for the 20th annual Fitger’s 5K Run & Walk, scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2009, is being conducted exclusively online. The sign-up period for the race will open Thursday, Jan. 8, 2009 at www.GrandmasMarathon.com with an entry fee of $25. In an effort to become more environmentally-friendly, paper entry forms for the 3.1-mile race will no longer be printed.



Dakotah sponsors Turkey Trot

It was a cold and windy morning, but the 152 runners in this year’s Turkey Trot persevered. On November 22, 2008, Dakotah Sport and Fitness sponsored their annual Turkey Trot 5K and Kids Run. The run started at Dakotah, and the course continued through The Meadows at Mystic Lake, the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community golf course. There was a Kids’ Fun Run following the 5K to encourage youth to take up the sport.



Chaska DECA hosts Turkey Trot 5K on Nov. 15

The Chaska High School DECA is hosting the Chaska Turkey Trot 5K race on Saturday, Nov. 15.

Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. on race day at the Chaska High School commons area.

The kids’ “Little Gobbler” 1/4- fun run starts at 8:15 a.m.

The kids’ “Big Gobbler” 1-mile run begins at 8:30 a.m.

The 5K race begins at 9 a.m., with awards following at 10 a.m.

The race will begin in the High School's West parking lot, go down purple brick road, take a right on to Hundermark Rd., take a right onto Pioneer Trail and go to Acorn Lane.

More to Tri triathlon presented by Life Time Fitness

Residents, media, delegates and visitors are invited to sign up now to run, bike and swim in the More to Tri presented by Life Time Fitness triathlon, a free three-day fitness event being held during the Republican National Convention. Mayor R.T. Rybak will participate in the triathlon, and the events will take participants through some of Minneapolis’ most scenic destinations: along Minnehaha Creek, over the Stone Arch Bridge and across Lake Calhoun. The event is free to residents and visitors, registration spots are still available.

The ninth annual Dave Huffman 5K Memorial Run is in memory of Dave Huffman who gave so much to the Chanhassen community. The fast, scenic course starts at City Center Park and winds its way through the City of Chanhassen. It is USATF certified. The race starts at 9 a.m. Awards, refreshments and continental breakfast following the race.

Parking: Use the parking lots surrounding Chanhassen City Hall. Street parking is also available.
Event Fees: By August 31, 2008 - $20
$50 family rate for first 3 people, $10 for each additional person
After August 31, until race day - $25
